judging process

in round 1, each video entry is viewed online by a select group of our mva jury members. in most cases, judges are asked to vote for a top six in each category they judge (a larger selection may be required in categories with large numbers of entries). these votes are collated and up to 15 top-scoring entries are put forward to round 2.

in round 2, panels of around 10 judges review the longlisted entries. judges are given the chance to watch the films ahead of a judging session at which they discuss the entries with their fellow judges and vote in a secret ballot. in all cases, their votes decide the nominations and ultimate winner.

specially-selected groups of jury members are also invited to vote in the individual and company awards - director, new director, dop, producer, commissioner, agent and production company. these votes decide the final shortlisted nominations and ultimate winner.
