the uk music video awards 2024 (the “awards”) are administered by ballistic events limited (the “promoter”).

  1. the awards are open to music video production companies, post-production companies, agencies, directors, producers, commissioners, record companies, music artists and other professionals working in the music video production business who are aged 16 or over. there are no geographical restrictions on who may enter. promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants and check their identity in accordance with our privacy policy.

  2. you may enter one or more music videos, music visual projects, individuals or companies. each music video or project may be entered in more than one award category (“category”), subject to certain limitations (please check criteria for each category for details of any such limitations). directors can only be entered into one of the individual best director categories. you will be charged for each video entry in each category (not per video entered into the awards as a whole).

  3. each category is open to music videos or projects first completed and delivered to the commissioning company or other client between 1 august 2023 and 6 august 2024 and those entering the awards warrant that each music video entered was completed and delivered between those dates. if you breach this clause 3 the promoter may disqualify you and your entry from the awards and, if disqualified, you shall not be entitled to a refund of any entry fee paid.

  4. entries must be made by completing the entry form and payment on the awards website (www.ukmva.com) and by uploading the music video(s) or projects entered via the awards website before the deadline of midnight (00:00) (uk time) on 6 august, 2024. entries submitted after this deadline will not be valid unless an extension to the entry deadline has been agreed by the promoter.

  5. awards entries cost ninety five pounds sterling (£95) plus vat per entry per category entered and are not refundable, accept where a category is cancelled (see 7.). entries to the awards will only be accepted when payment is received by the promoter in full and the film entered has been uploaded to the awards website and received by the promoter or its nominated agents.

  6. the promoter does not accept responsibility for network, computer, hardware or software failures of any kind, which may restrict or delay the sending or receipt of your entry. incomplete entries, and entries which do not satisfy the requirements of these terms and conditions, will be disqualified and will not be counted and will not be refunded.

  7. each entry submitted will be viewed by a select group of awards judges in the first round. categories will be allocated to judges according to their expertise. in most cases, judges will be asked to nominate a top six in each category they judge. these nominations will be collated and up to 15 nominations per category will be put forward to the second round of judging. in the second round, expert panels of selected judges will gather to discuss the nominations and select a shortlist and winner. judges may reallocate an entry to a different category in their absolute discretion. promoter reserves the right to cancel a category in the event of an insufficient number of entries to make the category valid. in this event, entry fees for entries into the specific cancelled category will be refunded to the entrant(s). promoter reserves the right to create a combined category of two or more categories in the event of an insufficient number of entries to make a particular category valid. in this event, entry fees will not be refunded to the entrant(s). promoter reserves the right to change the format of the judging provided always that judging is done in a rigorous and fair manner. any such changes to the format of the judging will be posted on the awards website.

  8. winning entries will be those which, in the opinion and sole discretion of the panel of judges, demonstrate the requisite artistic merit, creative contribution and technical skill in line with the category requirements.

  1. the judges’ and promoter’s decisions shall be final and binding in all respects on all entries. no correspondence will be entered into.

  2. it is intended that winners will be announced and receive their trophy at the awards ceremony which is due to take place at magazine london on october 24, 2024 (the "ceremony"). promoter reserves the right at its sole discretion to stage the awards at an alternative venue and will notify entrants of any such change in venue in writing (including, for the avoidance of doubt, by email) using the contact details provided by entrants in their entry form.

  3. one winner of each category will receive a trophy. there will be no prior disclosure. where a ceremony is held, winners not present at the ceremony will, at the request of each such winner, have their trophy dispatched by post within 21 days of either the date of the ceremony or receipt of such request by the promoter, whichever is later, provided that the winner has provided a postal address.

  4. in the event that the awards ceremony is unable to go ahead (where promoter cannot hold the ceremony of such as security, public disorder or public health reasons or where the promoter no longer considers it appropriate for a ceremony to be held), winners will be announced online and recipients will have their trophy dispatched by post within 21 days of the original ceremony date. in the event of cancellation of the awards ceremony itself under this clause 12, entrants acknowledge and agree that promoter shall not provide a refund of any entry fee(s) and promoter shall not be responsible for any losses directly or indirectly incurred by entrants in connection with the cancellation.

  5. please note that duplicate trophies requested by winners must be paid for (details provided on request to the promoter at the below address). a list of prize winners will be posted on the awards website for a minimum of one month.

  6. by entering the awards, you warrant and represent that;

  1. the entry is an original piece of work commissioned either directly by the rights holders (artist, label, management or other representative of these), or created for a competition authorised by the rights holders;
  2. you have the right to enter the work into the awards;
  3. the work does not infringe the privacy, intellectual property or any other rights of any third party right; and
  4. the work complies with all applicable laws, regulations, regulatory policies, guidelines or codes in each case from time to time in force, including all such guidelines and codes issued by statutory, regulatory and industry bodies.
  1. by entering the awards you agree that any entry you submit may be used by the promoter, its agents and the judges for the purposes of judging the awards and may be viewed at the ceremony (in whole or in part) without further remuneration. you agree that any entry you submit may also be used by the promoter in whole or in part for marketing and promotional purposes for a maximum of 12 months from the date it is uploaded. you hereby grant promoter a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence in each entry for 12 months in all media for any use connected to the promotion of the awards or future 'uk music video awards' events.
  1. you warrant and represent that you have obtained all relevant rights and written permission from individuals featured in the entry.

  2. promoter reserves the right to remove any entry which promoter has grounds to believe breaches any of these terms and conditions or is likely to be damaging or in any harmful, defamatory or embarrassing to promoter or is otherwise detrimental to the good name, image, goodwill or reputation of promoter or the awards or which is any way likely to subject promoter or the awards to ridicule or contempt of the public.

  3. you shall indemnify the promoter and its agents against all liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses (including any direct, indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of reputation and all interest, penalties and legal and other reasonable professional costs and expenses) suffered or incurred by the promoter arising out of or in connection with any breach of the warranties in clauses 3, 14, 14.d and 16 of these terms and conditions.

  4. except in the case of death or personal injury arising from its negligence, or in respect of fraud, and so far as is permitted by law, the promoter and its associated companies and agents exclude responsibility and all liabilities arising from:

  1. any postponement or cancellation of the awards;
  2. any changes to, supply of (including, without limitation, prizes which do not reach the intended recipient), or use of the prize;
  3. any error or omission by the promoter;
  4. any loss of or damage to data; and
  5. any act or default of any third party supplier, which are beyond the promoter’s reasonable control.
  1. subject to clause 19, promoter's total liability to you whether arising under contract, tort (including negligence), or breach of statutory duty shall not exceed the entry fee(s) paid to you for entry to the awards.

  2. by entering the awards you agree that your image, name and likeness may be used by the promoter for advertising and publicity purposes in connection with the uk music video awards without additional remuneration.

  3. the promoter will use each winner's and each entrant's personal details for the purposes of administering this awards. please see our privacy policy for further details.

  4. the promoter may also use the details you give to contact you about their products and services. by entering this awards you are indicating your agreement to this unless you tell the promoter otherwise.

  5. the provisions of the contracts (rights of third parties) act 1999 are excluded from these terms.

  6. these terms constitute the sole and entire understanding of you and promoter in relation to the subject matter of these terms and supersede all previous agreements, representations and arrangements between you and promoter (either oral or written) with regard to your entry(ies) into the awards.

  7. if any provision of these terms is invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction it will, if required, be deleted (for the purposes of that jurisdiction) provided that such deletion does not affect the remaining provisions of these terms or affect the validity or enforceability of that provision in any other jurisdiction.
